Chariot Co-Founders Meet Hon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Chariot co-founders Parth Sarthi and Suvrat Bhooshan met with the Hon. Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji, at his residence and presented what they are building.

Parth and Suvrat with the Hon. Prime Minister, from DD India's coverage: “Model intended for the world as well”

Chariot is one of four teams backed by the Government of India and the IndiaAI Mission to build foundational AI models from India. Founded by Parth Sarthi and Suvrat Bhooshan, the lab is building systems that can truly understand, reason, and interact with the world, starting with speech.

While Parth walked the Prime Minister through Chariot's first model, the Prime Minister asked a question that goes to the heart of the work: could the model discern the intent behind the words and choose the correct tone? His example set “Ram Naam Satya Hai” against “Ram Ram”. Does the model know when something is solemn and when it is casual?

Does it understand the weight of what's being said, not just the words themselves?

It is exactly the kind of problem the team obsesses over. Speech is not just transcription: intent, emotion, and cultural context are all encoded in how something is said, and a model that speaks for people has to carry that weight correctly.

The founders are thankful to the Honorable Prime Minister for his time and for the opportunity to present what they are building. Lots to build.
