Chariot x NVIDIA: Building Speech AI for the IndiaAI Mission

NVIDIA's “India Fuels Its AI Mission” features Chariot among the teams building India's foundation models, for its real-time text to speech on the NVIDIA NeMo framework.

In “India Fuels Its AI Mission With NVIDIA”, NVIDIA lays out how the country is pairing national AI infrastructure with a first generation of sovereign foundation models, and introduces the teams building them. Chariot is featured for its work on speech.

NVIDIA writes that Chariot is using the NeMo framework to build a model for real-time text to speech, supporting applications that improve accessibility and digital interaction across consumer and enterprise use cases.

NeMo is NVIDIA's framework for building and customising generative AI models at scale, and it underpins a model designed for live use: speech that streams as it generates, quickly enough for voice agents, assistants, and any product where the reply has to feel instant. Building on it puts Chariot's training and inference stack on the same foundations NVIDIA develops for frontier-scale speech work.

The post places that work in the context of the IndiaAI Mission's wider build-out: compute capacity, energy, and a research ecosystem capable of training sovereign models in India. Chariot is one of four teams backed by the Government of India and the IndiaAI Mission to build foundational AI models from the country.
